Winner of the 8th Annual King Cake Snob Contest
Only two bakeries have won all five categories at the 8th annual King Cake Snob competition, organizers announced on Wednesday.
Susan's Sassy Sweets, a newcomer to the competition based in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, won the titles of Best Traditional King Cake and Best Freshness.
Claudia's King Cake, a bakery just outside of New Orleans in Harahan, won the Best Filled King Cake award for the fifth year in a row. Claudia's was also awarded for Best Presentation and Best Taste.
"Each year we look forward to giving Louisiana residents the opportunity to share their thoughts on their favorite cakes and bakeries," said Jay Connaughton, managing partner of Innovative Advertising, which organizes the competition. “But this year's competition was special for us at Innovative Advertising because we got to indulge in our favorite things in Louisiana and enjoy a regular carnival season again. Congratulations to the bakeries and voters who helped select our 2022 winners!”
